Free Range Egg Production

Income from Egg Sales = £19.95 (per bird per flock)

Expenditure on Feed & Pullets = £12.54 (per bird per flock)

Margin Per Bird = £7.41 or £5928 per acre (800 birds per acre)

The United Kingdom animal welfare legislation currently requires provision of 1 hectare for every 2,000 birds (i.e. 1 acre per 800 birds). A 6 hectare(15 acre) site is suitable for 12,000 birds.(Minimum acreage required 10 acres)
