Potential Returns.

This information is designed to give you a rough idea of the potential earnings that can be achieved from becoming a John Bowler Free Range Producer. This information is in no way a guarantee of any kind and should not be used for any financial purposes.

Free Range Egg Production:

Income from Egg Sales = £22.15 (per bird per flock)

Expenditure on Feed & Pullets = £13.79 (per bird per flock)

Margin Per Bird = £8.36 over £3344 per acre (400 birds per acre)

The margin is after pullet & feed costs only. Labour, financing and other costs unique to your farm may also apply. If you would like to see a more detailed cash flow please request a brochure. Explanations of the workings of the costings are given at our monthly open days

Organic Egg Production:

Income from Egg Sales = £34.90(per bird per flock)

Expenditure on Feed & Pullets = £23.50 (per bird per flock)

Margin Per Bird = £11.41over £4564 per acre (400 birds per acre)

The stocking density for newly contracted Organic units is 6 birds per square metre. The maximum flock size is 3000 birds per flock under The Organic Farmers and Growers and 2000 birds under Soil Association.

Substantially increased margins can be generated from Organic flocks, as illustrated above. However you must take into account that the poultry house costs are significantly increased due to the lower stocking density in the Organic chicken units.
